Understated and Elegant Mom Jewelry
Mother’s jewelry can look childish or tacky, when not done right. Everyone knows the meaning of a princess cut diamond ring, even if it doesn’t spell out love or wedding. The same can be true of classic mother’s jewelry that doesn’t have to rely on the beaded initials or names of your children on charm bracelets with baby-like charms. Instead, mother’s jewelry can be as elegant and understated as other types of jewelry, without giving up any of the meaning associated with it.
Silhouettes
Children’s silhouettes make are good as jewelry charms or to put within a pendant locket. They give you a visual clue of the child without being too forward. If you don’t want to get a silhouette done of your children, you can just improvise with one that represents a boy or a girl and then engrave their names on it.
Birthstones
Another great way to celebrate your children with jewelry is to use their birthstones in the design of a ring or mother’s bracelet. This is not an obvious ploy for attention as the choice of stones is purely personal and can mean any number of things. However, you’ll know that each stone represents a child in your family and their associated birthday gem.
Engraved Names
You can always engrave the names of your children on the inside of a ring or bracelet. This isn’t obvious to other people, but you’ll know they are there as a constant reminder. Some mothers use tag necklaces like soldier’s tags and engrave the names of their children on them and keep them close to their hearts.
Photos
Locket jewelry is perfect for including a small photo of your children. No one else has to know it’s there unless they ask to see a picture. Some mothers will have the image visible to the casual observer and others won’t. It’s strictly a personal choice.
